Kalahari Tours & Travel is also a 4x4 specialist and offers a range of 4x4 trails in the Northern Cape & Botswana to choose from. Our 4x4 tours are all inclusive, with clients having the option of travelling in a 4x4 vehicle with a driver/guide or driving his/her own 4x4 or rented 4x4 vehicle. Our guide will assist you on the trail and with setting up camp and preparing meals. Any combination of these 4x4 trails can be arranged. Please note: Botswana trails and the Nossob Eco Trail in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park are a minimum of 2, max. 5 vehicles only!

We respect nature, the rules and regulations of conservation areas and the privacy of local communities and strive to run our tours with as little or no negative impact to nature. We support local communities where possible by making use of facilities offered by them.
Although the driving conditions on some trails can be quite demanding, our tours are not about testing 4x4 vehicles. On the contrary, we just need a 4x4 to get to very special remote areas that can’t be reached in a 2x4.
All standard 4 x 4 tours start in Upington.
We offer the following standard 4x4 tours:
| TOUR 1: Kalahari 4x4 Trail (4 days) |
Sandy Trail. This 4x4 tour runs through Rietfontein and Pulai in the Mier area in the Northern Cape in South Africa. The Kalahari 4x4 Trail is the oldest commercial 4x4 trail in South Africa and still rated as one of the top 10 4x4 trails in the country. Part of this trail runs through a very scenic area where the only natural red sand with no vegetation are found in the Kalahari Desert in South Africa.
This is a tough 4x4 trail crossing many Kalahari dunes. Malaria free area.

| TOUR 2: Nossob Eco Trail 4x4 Tour (6 days) |
Sandy Trail. This 4x4 tour takes place in the South African part of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. The 4x4 Nossob Eco 4x4 Trail runs parallel with the Nossob River, through the duneveld of the Kalahari Desert, from 40km north of Twee Rivieren to 60 km north of Nossob Camp.
This 4x4 trail is quite tough and covers the Kalahari duneveld wilderness area in the Park. Malaria free area.

| TOUR 3: Polentswa Wilderness Trail 4x4 Tour (6 days) |
Sandy Trail. The Polentswa Wilderness 4x4 tour runs on a circular route through the Kalahari north of Nossob Camp in the Botswana part of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.
This 4x4 Trail is a true Kalahari Wilderness experience with absolute privacy and good wildlife. Malaria free area.

| TOUR 4: Mabuasehube 4x4 Tour (7 days) |
Sandy Trail. The Mabuasehube 4x4 Tour runs through Kuruman, north through the Kalahari via Tshabong to Mabuasehube on the eastern border of the Botswana side of the Kgalagdi Transfrontier Park and west to Nossob on the South African side of the Kgalagadi. Continue south on game drive routes.
This 4x4 tour covers good wildlife and wilderness areas. Malaria free area.

| TOUR 5:Mabuasehube – Kaa 4x4 Tour (9 days/8nights) |
Sandy Trail: This 4x4 tour is a combination of Mabuasehube & Kaa 4x4 Trails.
The 4x4 Tour runs through Kuruman, north through the Kalahari via Tshabong to Mabuasehube on the eastern border of the Botswana side of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. The 4x4 trail continues through Hukuntsi and the Kaa Kalahari Concession to the Kaa 4x4 Trail in the north-western corner of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and south on the game drive routes on the South African side of the Kgalagadi.
This 4x4 tour covers good wildlife and wilderness areas. Malaria free area.

TOUR 6: Kaa Kalahari Concession 4x4 tour (8 days)

Sandy Trail. This 4x4 Tour runs through Kuruman, north through the Kalahari via Tshabong to Mabuasehube on the eastern border of the Botswana side of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. The 4x4 trail continues through Hukuntsi to the very remote Masetleng Pan in the Kaa Kalahari Concession north of Kgalagadi. Continue south on the game drive routes on the South African side of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.
This 4x4 tour offers good wildlife and covers the most remote wilderness area in Botswana. Malaria free area.

| TOUR 7: Riemvasmaak Trails 4x4 Tour (4 days) |
Rocky and sandy Trail. The Riemvasmaak 4x4Trails run through barren rocky and mountainous desert in the Riemvasmaak Mountains, bordering on the northern part of the Augrabies Falls National Park, north of the Orange River.
This 4x4 tour is a short and intense Mountain Desert experience. Malaria free area.

| TOUR 8: Namaqua , Richtersveld & Diamond Coast 4x4 Tour (8 days) |
Rocky and sandy Trail. This 4x4 Trail runs through the Northern Cape Province in South Africa and passes Augrabies Falls National Park, continues parallel with the Orange River through the Northern Bushmenland, crosses the Richtersveld Conservancy, which is a World Heritage Site, to South Africa’s only Mountain Desert Park, the Ai-Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier Park. This part of the 4x4 tour is the longest commercial 4x4 Trail in South Africa. The Trail continues to the Orange River Mouth Estuary and to the Diamond Coast 4x4 Trails through the previous restricted alluvial diamond mining area in the Northern Namaqualand.
This 4x4 tour covers a variety of desert landscapes. Malaria free area.
